Russia likely to join WTO in Q3 2008
RBC, 19.12.2007, Moscow 12:55:31.Russia could become a member of the WTO in the third quarter of 2008, Deputy Director of the Economy Ministry's trade negotiations department Andrei Kushnirenko told the 16th international car conference today. He noted that there were only two more countries to negotiate with, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The talks are to be held in January-February 2008. Kushnirenko pointed out that only a few issues remained unsettled, the government's support of agriculture being the most complicated of them. He added that, under international agreements, the longest waiting period for the lowering of duties would be in the automobile industry. The earliest opening of the car market is not due to take place until 2014-2015, Kushnirenko said.
